VBeam Laser

The VBeam is a pulsed dye laser. This means that it uses laser energy in pulses while a dye generates the different colors of the laser beam. The target of the VBeam is hemoglobin, the red protein in blood cells in the blood vessels. Because of the wide variety of treatment spot sizes, pulse widths and treatment indications, the skin cells that surround the dilated blood vessels are not damaged.

The VBeam laser is used for the treatment of a variety of different skin conditions such as:
  • Acne Scars
  • Facial & Spider Veins
  • Leg Veins
  • Pigmented Lesions
  • Rosacea
  • Scar Treatment
  • Striae (Stretch Marks)
  • Vascular Lesions
  • Warts

During the procedure blood vessels in the skin absorb the gentle light, coagulate, and are reabsorbed into the body as part of the natural healing process. The sensation of the beam feels like cold and hot snaps on the skin as a stream of cold air directed at the treated area helps to minimize discomfort. While Dr. Berg can apply a topical anesthetic cream 30 minutes prior to the procedure to lessen the pain, most patients do not find it necessary.
